
Continuing Training Accreditation
The training that health professionals receive is a key element for the development of an appropriate citizens’ health care. Quality healthcare requires quality training.
This is why the Andalusian Agency for Healthcare Quality also includes, within its scope of certification, continuing training, which refers to the training that health professionals receive according to their area of work.
ACSA is the Andalusian entity in charge of assess the quality of the different elements that take part in the design of any activity or continuing training programme address to health professions. The Ministry of Health of the Regional Government of Andalucía is the certifying body. ACSA has certified around 50 thousand training activities related to clinical practice, healthcare management, public health, research, teaching and quality since its inception in 2003.
What do we accredit?
Continuing Training Activities
Training actions aimed at making health professionals acquire, update or improve competence in their specific field of knowledge and action.Continuing Training Programmes
A set of two or more activities organised and structured related to the same topic with the common objective of acquiring, updating or developing one or several specific skills in a same area.In addition to the accreditation of programmes and activities, ACSA also has a Training Centres and Units Certification Programme available for health professionals.
How to accredit?
Continuing training accreditation is the result of the process that allows certify the quality in the design of training activities and programmes. This accreditation is valid inside the whole Spanish territory.

Phase 1 Beginning of the Process
Training providers begin the process of accreditation of its activities and training programmes by registering on the support computer application ‘Me_jora F’.

Phase 2 Application/Self-assessment
Training providers complete the application and gather all the information related to the design of a given activity or training programme according to criteria.
In the case of training programmes, reflection is made on what is well done (positive evidences) and on areas for improvement. This is called ‘Self-Assessment Phase’.

Phase 3 Assessment
The team of surveyors assesses the quality of the design of the activity or programme, as well as the adequacy and interrelation between its components. To do so, the parameters established by the Continuing Education Commission and quality criteria developed in Andalusia are taken into account.

Phase 4 Accreditation and follow-up
The certifying body issues a statement with the resulting accreditation status (Accredited or Non-Accredited).

Recommendations elaborated by ACSA from the information gathered during the different certification process, patient safety and professional development. They are available to every professional to facilitate their performance in the different work areas.
