Assessment of Reference Centres, Services and Units (CSUR)
of Spanish National Health System
ACSA, assessment body of CSUR-SNS
The Andalusian Agency for Healthcare Quality (ACSA) has been appointed as organisation responsible for the assessment of the Reference Centres, Services and Units (CSUR) within the Spanish Health System (SNS), after winning the corresponding tender published by the Directorate-General for Public Health, Quality and Innovation of the Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare.
Thanks to this agreement, during the years 2018-19 ACSA will be assessing the achievement of the requisites established by the Inter-regional Council of the Spanish Health System (CISNS) for the designation of reference centres, services and units in 60 units that expect to obtain or renew this accreditation, according to the procedure established by the Committee for CSUR Designation, attached to CISNS and composed of representatives from all the Autonomous Communities and the Ministry.
The aim of designating reference centres, services and units within the Spanish Health System is to ensure equity in the access to high quality, safe and efficient healthcare to people with very low frequent pathologies, that due to its specific characteristics, require highly specialised cares. That is why these cases are concentrated in a small number of centres. In this regard, the assessment by the Andalusian Agency for Healthcare Quality will contribute to ensuring the suitability of the centres so as to provide a quality healthcare to such patients, with the aim of assuring the maximum level of safety and efficiency.
