Maps of competencies elaboration
The map of competencies is a core element that permits professionals to know which are the competencies needed to perform their duties. This will help them to know which aspects of their performance must be improved in order to make further progress in their professional development.
ACSA is developing a work line that consist in producing maps of competencies, with the aim of making available a tool that gathers the knowledge, the abilities and the attitudes needed in each health professional’s performance to professionals and health centres/units. The aim is to guide professionals in their development and provide them with helpful tools in the different human resources management.
How to elaborate a map of competencies
Each map of competencies is drawn up by a group of experts in every professional field, as well as representatives from the corresponding Scientific Society. They will always be coordinated by ACSA’s professionals who guide them when using the appropriate methodology.
These professionals identify the competencies, the good practices and the activities the position include. Moreover, they describe those elements related with the healthcare practice quality and safety, which they are to guide on how each activity must be carried out.
All elements included in a map of competencies are based on scientific evidence available, protocols, technical instructions, practice guidelines, recommendations, regulations, etc.
Once the map of competencies is finished, it is validated by another group of experts from the same scope of action.
