Fundación Pública Andaluza Progreso y Salud (FPS) is a non-for-profit public foundation belonging to the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health and Families. FPS provides services to the Andalusian Public Health System (APHS). APHS has more than 95,000 employees and it is responsible for the provision of healthcare to all the population of Andalusia, one of the largest regions in Europe, with 8.4 million inhabitants.
FPS services and activities are organized around three lines:
- Research and Innovation (R&I): One of the main goals of FPS is to boost health research and innovation in the region, especially biomedical research. FPS is in charge of facilitating and supporting research centers and groups during the whole scientific process.
- Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): FPS works within the framework of the ICT Strategy of the APHS and has the premise of accomplishing greater quality standards in terms of healthcare for citizens, endowing healthcare professionals with the ICT tools and means necessary to make their processes more streamlined and efficient.
- Training of professionals (IAVANTE): FPS is responsible for promoting the development of professional technical skills of the APHS personnel. This line of activity focuses on the acquisition of knowledge, comprehensive training and assessment of skills of health professionals, through the most innovative learning methodologies and using state-of-the-art simulation equipment for drills of their real activity.
