Other Training and Diffusion Activities

symposiumThe Andalusian Network for the design and translation of Advanced Therapies in collaboration with other institutions fosters training and diffusion activities such as Children’s Workshops in advanced therapies, Symposia, “Encuentros en la Frontera de la Investigación en Salud (Gatherings at the Border of Health Research)”, or  “Encuentros ConCiencia” (Gatherings with Science).

The Children’s Workshops in Advanced Therapies enable Andalusian young people and schoolchildren from 8 to 15 to gain better knowledge of the field of cell therapy, gene therapy and nanomedicine through educational workshops. These workshops use the following support material: The “Tale of Celestina, a cell in action” about regenerative medicine, the comic “Plim, the secret of life” about gene therapy and the videogame “Nanito” about nanomedicine. At present, over 20 sessions have been offered in different Andalusian provinces.. They have welcomed interest from the media and the consequent impact in newspapers, on radio, TV and social networks.

The “Encuentros ConCiencia” provide the opportunity for the bringing together of health research professionals and citizens, especially Patients’ Associations and patients’ relatives, to analyse and discuss the main research work being developed, the results of which might improve the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of some pathologies.

The “Encuentros en la Frontera de la Investigación en Salud” are scientific seminars which keep Andalusian professionals updated with national and international knowledge generated in the field of therapies as well as with innovative approaches to the resolution and knowledge of  citizens’ health problems.

In addition, in 2012, the Coordinating Unit of the Andalusian Network for the design and translation of Advanced Therapies organized an International symposium “I International Symposium on Cell and Gene-based Therapies” to foster the exchange of knowledge and promote synergies between lines of research in the advanced therapy field. This symposium held in Granada (Spain) brought together some of the most significant international representatives in the field of regenerative medicine, specifically in cell therapy, gene therapy and tissue engineering.

It should be also noted the collaboration with the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy (ISCT).

Recently, at the request of the ISCT, we have developed an Educational Program on Advanced Therapy Manufacturing, which will allow, through 6 on-line courses, training, in different areas of ATMPs manufacturing, of all ISCT Members who wish so and at no cost.To know more about this Educational Program, launched in September 2021, please, visit the ISCT website at: https://www.isctglobal.org

In 2020, we also participated as member of the organizing committee of the ISCT 2020 Paris Virtual Congress:

In the framework of the ISCT Europe 2015 Regional Meeting, held for the first time in Spain, in Seville to be precise, we organised together with the Enterprise Europe Network a Bilateral meetings (B2B) International Summit in order to promote the generation of strategic alliances in the field of Cell Therapy.

training

"The Andalusian Network for the design and translation of Advanced Therapies together with the University of Granada established one of the best programmes to learn about ATMPs and the basics of GMP. The tutoring is very interactive not only during practical phase but also in the online-based theoretical sections. You will not miss classes. The programme offers a great chance to get into contact with other people working in ATMP and GMP sectors and to build up networks throughout Europe. You have the chance to exchange experiences with experienced tutors and lecturers, also in regulatory aspects. In addition to learn and be trained, it is really easy to socialize in the sunny area of Andalusia with all its historical sights in the beautiful old city centre of Granada".
